CARVIAN – Cookie Policy
Effective date: 03.09.2026
1. General
1.1
This Cookie Policy ("Cookie Policy") explains how the entity operating the Carvian service ("Company", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Carvian platform available at carvian.com and its related domains and subdomains ("Platform").
More detailed information about the processing of personal data is available in the Carvian Privacy Policy.
1.2
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit the Platform.
Similar technologies include browser local storage and tracking pixels. These technologies allow the Platform to function correctly, remember your preferences and, with your consent, measure Platform usage and the effectiveness of our advertising.
2. How Consent Works on the Platform
2.1
Tags on the Platform are managed through Google Tag Manager and controlled using Google Consent Mode v2.
When you first visit the Platform, a consent banner asks you to choose your cookie preferences.
Analytics and advertising tags are loaded, and cookies in those categories are set, only if you have given your consent for the relevant category (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 205 of the Finnish Act on Electronic Communications Services 917/2014).
Strictly necessary cookies are used without consent based on our legitimate interest in ensuring the proper operation of the Platform.
2.2
You may change or withdraw your consent at any time by reopening the cookie settings through the "Manage cookies" link available on the Platform.
Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
| Category | Purpose | Examples / Provider | Legal Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Enable the core functionality of the Platform, including session management, checkout, language selection and storing your cookie preferences. | First-party cookies set by the Platform; consent state record | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) |
| Analytics | Measure Platform usage (such as visits, page views and conversion events) to help us improve our services. Loaded through Google Tag Manager only with your consent. | Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) |
| Advertising | Measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and enable conversion tracking. With your consent they also enable advertising targeting and personalisation: on the basis of your visit you may be added to advertising audiences (remarketing), which allow Carvian's ads to be shown to you on other websites and services. OpenAI's conversion measurement may additionally use an email address you enter on the Platform: it is hashed (SHA-256) in your browser and the hash is used to match conversions to ads shown in OpenAI's services (automatic advanced matching); the address itself is not transmitted. Loaded through Google Tag Manager only with your consent. | Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd); Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd and their subsidiaries); TikTok Pixel (TikTok Technology Limited); OpenAI Ads (OpenAI Ireland Ltd) | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) |

If you have given consent for the advertising category, Google Analytics additionally contacts Google's advertising domains (for example stats.g.doubleclick.net and google.com or google.fi) in order to build advertising audiences. Any cookies relating to those connections are set by Google on its own domains, not by the Platform.
3.2
Google, Meta, TikTok and OpenAI may process analytics and advertising data on servers located outside the EU/EEA.
Such transfers are based on the European Commission's adequacy decision regarding the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
More information about these providers' processing of personal data is available in their own privacy documentation.
4. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
4.1
In addition to the consent banner, you may block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
Most browsers allow you to block either all cookies or only third-party cookies.
Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent certain parts of the Platform, such as the checkout process, from functioning properly.
Instructions are available on your browser's support pages, including for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge.
5. Changes and Contact
5.1
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if the technologies or tools used on the Platform change.
The latest version will always be published on the Platform.
